A member of the team does fieldwork in Brussels at the European Union

Ángeles Montalvo Chaves is undertaking fieldwork in Brussels during this month. She has been interviewing EEAS/SEAE head of divisions and officers as well as members of the European Parliament who work on peace, security, CSDP and defense.

Our main goal is to analyse the ways in which international peacebuilding is changing and observe if there is a rise in unilateral militarised approaches to conflicts, where organizations like the EU and UN seem to be playing a less prominent role than before. With her interviews, Ángeles is trying to grasp interviewer’s views and experiences about the extent to which EU officers note any changes in the field of peacebuilding and possible difficulties, as well as to examine closely the cases of CAR and the Sahel.
